Unsung Women Heroes Awards
*The spirit of service and giving are values which translate easily across cultures. Many women all over the world take on the responsibility of service to others with great fervor and little fanfare. Through the Unsung Women Heroes Awards, Soroptimist International of the Americas Philippines Region (A Foundation), Inc. endeavors to recognize these nameless women who have made it their life’s work to uplift the well-being of other women and girls in their communities. While the Awards cannot possibly celebrate all of these women, Soroptimist hopes to inspire others -- both young and old -- to pursue similar paths of service.
The Unsung Women Heroes Awards honor women who strive to improve the lives of women and girls in their communities in their personal or professional capacity despite the scarcity of resources.
Through the Awards, Soroptimist seeks to promote its work, trigger a ripple effect of social awareness and goodwill and, in the process, enlarge the scope and impact of Soroptimist in local communities. Paying tribute to the many selfless volunteers working at the grassroots level and disadvantaged sectors, the Soroptimist Unsung Women Heroes Awards hope to inspire other women to pursue similar paths of leadership, commitment and creativity to make this world a better place for all.
To be eligible for the nomination, women must have worked to advance the interest of women and girls in the last two years and in at least one of the following areas:
