And what a fruitful day it was!
Hearing all the girls laughing and participating in the activities and sharing their life experiences warmed my heart. I am so, so grateful to the school administration headed by their principal, Ms. Sienna Panganiban, to Dr. Bernadette Lejarde, who recommended us for this partnership, and all their teachers who gave this day to us. Thank you to SSLG Adviser, Ms Corazon Mercado, and SSLG President Allysol Cayanan and her fellow officers for assisting us in both sessions. Allysol, your energy is contagious. - Pres. Christian *** Again, thank you, Betis National High School. We had over 500 girls today for our Dream It, Be It Career Support for Girls Conference! (Really an undercount because they were close to 1000, I can't wait for official registration numbers to get submitted.) We hope we inspired you to dream bigger dreams. Always remember: If you can dream it, you can be it! Also, thank you to PSSg. Krystle Jane Leonardo WCPD PNCO of Guagua PNP, and WCLD District Director-Elect Imelda Torres for joining us and sharing your expertise and experiences with the girls. #dreambigguaguaena #dreamitbeitcareersupportforgirls #soroptimistinternationaloftheamericas #SoroptimistAtWork #soroptimistphilippines #soroptimistguagua +5 "Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny." - C.S. Packed from January to December and we are overwhelmed and thankful for the support of schools and their students, our local government of Guagua and its officials, as well as the district officers of SIAPR West Central Luzon District, headed by DD Dancel Sorio, and region officers of Soroptimist International of the Americas Philippines Region, headed by Governor Gigie Peñalosa. We are beyond thankful for 2023. We look forward to doing more for the women and girls of our community. Cheers to an amazing year this 2024! Merry Christmas, everyone!
May the spirit of Christmas live on in our hearts and minds. May the gift of sharing bring smiles to your beautiful faces and hearts. And may the love of God envelope you and your families always. From all of us at Soroptimist International of Guagua December 16, 2023 - Cattleya Garden Villas: We, finally, got the chance to have all our Access to Education scholars in one place. We have been doing disbursements since October, after they were all confirmed in late September. And because of their class schedules and distance to the bank, we can't even see them all on disbursement day. So, during the Club Christmas Party, we invited them for a short awarding ceremony to officially welcome them to our 2023-2024 roster of adopted scholars, together with our 2022-2023 scholars. And what fun it was! (Top Left to Right) Daphne, Rica Mae, Raine, Rodwina, Marthina, Arjane, April Ann, Mariel, Mary Rose, Lyka (Bottom Left to Right) Princess, Shara, Jackylyn, Allaine, Lady America, Jennifer, Jolina, Angelica, Margie (Guagua National Colleges, Guagua Community College and Don Honorio Ventura State University - Porac and Main Campus) We are very proud of these girls. Despite hardships in life — be it poverty, early marriage, motherhood, orphanhood, health concerns — they chose to pursue education and live their dreams. Study well, girls! It was nice meeting (most of) you and thank you for celebrating the holidays with us. CONGRATULATIONS TO STEFANIE CLAIRE MANDAP, an 11-year-old student of St. Scholastica's Academy Pampanga. Stefanie won today (Dec 10) as Champion of Visible and Vocal: Public Speaking Competition, an online event of the Soroptimist International and the Commonwealth Business Women’s Network. She bested six other participants from different parts of the world and won for her declaration on Climate Change. SI Guagua, led by Pres. Christian Grace, sponsored Stefanie to this contest after receiving an invitation from SIA to nominate a representative for said competition. SI Guagua is the lone representative from the SIA Federation. The competition was aimed at empowering girls and enhancing their communication skills. It was also designed to achieve several important objectives by encouraging girls to play a more prominent role in public life, improving the art of communication, developing research techniques, nurturing effective speaking abilities, and boosting self-confidence and personality. We are very proud of you, Stefanie! Thank you, SI Guagua, for taking up the challenge to send a candidate to this interesting event honoring young girls. In Soroptimist Service, Governor Gigie |
